Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about watching and streaming on PetPass.

Signing up

How do I create a PetPass account?
  1. Go to petpass.live β€” the homepage shows all live streams.
  2. Click the Sign in button in the top-right corner of the page.
  3. On the sign-in page, click Continue with Cognito. You'll be taken to Cognito to sign in, then redirected straight back to PetPass.
  4. You'll be redirected back to PetPass, now signed in. Your username (the part before the @ in your email) appears in the header.
Do I need an account to watch streams?

Yes β€” you need a PetPass account and an active subscription to watch streams. Each stream has its own subscription, or you can subscribe to the platform all-access tier to watch every stream on PetPass with a single subscription. Once you're signed in and subscribed, you can manage your subscriptions from your profile.

What subscription options are available?

There are two ways to subscribe on PetPass:

  • Stream subscription β€” subscribe to a specific stream. This gives you access to that stream's live video and, when enabled, recorded replays. Each stream is priced and managed independently.
  • All-access subscription β€” a single platform-wide subscription that unlocks every stream on PetPass. Ideal if you watch multiple creators.

You can subscribe to individual streams, the all-access tier, or a combination β€” whatever suits how you watch.

How do I sign out?

Click Sign out in the top-right corner of the page, next to your username. You can sign back in any time from the sign-in page.

Becoming a creator

How do I become a creator on PetPass?

Becoming a creator takes a few steps across a couple of days. Here's the full process from start to first live stream:

  1. Sign in to your PetPass account. You need an account before applying. Sign in here, or see the sign-up section above if you don't have one yet.
  2. Open the creator application. Click Become a creator in the header to open the creator application form.
  3. Choose your channel name. This becomes your public URL slug (e.g. petpass.live/whisker-cottage). Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only. Choose carefully β€” this cannot be changed once submitted.
  4. Tell us about your channel. Optionally add a short description (up to 500 characters) of what pets you'll stream and why you want to join PetPass. Genuine applications get prioritised.
  5. Submit your application. Click Submit application. You'll see a confirmation message on screen. We aim to review within 2–3 business days β€” check your dashboard for the status.
  6. Wait for our review. We review every application manually to keep the PetPass experience calm, kind, and high-quality. Check your creator dashboard any time to see your current status.
  7. Complete Stripe Connect onboarding. If your application is approved, you'll see a Connect Stripe button on your dashboard. Click it and you'll be taken to Stripe to set up your payment account. This is how you receive subscription revenue from your viewers. See the Stripe section below for details on what to expect.
  8. Wait for Stripe verification. Stripe reviews your account in the background β€” usually a few minutes, occasionally longer. Once verified, your IVS streaming channel is automatically provisioned.
  9. Get your stream credentials. Head to your creator dashboard. You'll find your ingest endpoint and stream key in the Stream credentials section.
  10. Go live with OBS (or any RTMPS encoder). Open OBS β†’ Settings β†’ Stream. Set the Service to Custom, paste the ingest endpoint into Server, and paste your stream key into Stream Key. Click Apply, then Start Streaming.
What happens during the Stripe Connect setup?

Stripe Connect is how PetPass pays you. After your application is approved, you'll be redirected to Stripe's secure onboarding flow. Here's what to expect:

  1. Personal or business details. Stripe collects your legal name, date of birth, and address to comply with financial regulations.
  2. Identity verification. You may be asked to upload a government-issued ID (passport, driving licence, etc.). This is a standard requirement for anyone receiving money through Stripe.
  3. Bank account or debit card. Stripe needs somewhere to send your payouts. Add a bank account (recommended) or debit card.
  4. Review and submit. Once you've filled in all required fields, Stripe will return you to PetPass at petpass.live/dashboard/onboarding/return. You'll see a confirmation message.
  5. Background verification. Stripe reviews the information asynchronously. Most accounts are verified within minutes. Once Stripe confirms your account is active, your PetPass channel is automatically set up and your dashboard will show your stream credentials.

All payment data is handled directly by Stripe β€” PetPass never sees your bank details. Questions about your Stripe account? Visit Stripe support.

What if my Stripe session expires during onboarding?

Stripe onboarding links expire after a short time. If your session times out, Stripe will redirect you to petpass.live/dashboard/onboarding/refresh, where you can click Resume onboarding to get a fresh link and return to Stripe to continue where you left off.

How much do I earn from subscriptions?

PetPass pays creators a percentage of every subscription their stream earns.

TierRateBar

Payouts are processed by Stripe Connect and typically arrive within 2–7 business days of a subscription payment, depending on your Stripe account country.

What equipment do I need to stream?

You don't need much to get started:

  • A computer (Mac, Windows, or Linux)
  • A webcam, phone, or camera β€” anything that can connect to your computer or a capture card
  • OBS Studio (free) or any RTMPS-compatible streaming encoder
  • A stable internet connection (recommended: 5 Mbps upload or better)
How do I configure my streaming software to go live?

You'll need two things from your creator dashboard: your RTMPS ingest endpoint (the server URL) and your stream key. Both appear in the Credentials tab of your dashboard once your channel is provisioned.

In your streaming software, choose a Custom RTMPS service and enter the following:

  • Server / Ingest endpoint: paste the URL from your dashboard
  • Stream key: paste the key from your dashboard

OBS Studio users: go to Settings β†’ Stream, set Service to Custom…, and fill in the fields above.

Can I apply again if my application is rejected?

Yes. If your application isn't approved, you're welcome to apply again. Go to your creator dashboard and click Apply again. Consider updating your channel description to give us a clearer picture of what you plan to stream.
